World day of animals

Date was chosen on October 4 with an ulterior motive. Catholics of the whole world glorify Francis Assizscy (1181(82) — 1226), the patron of animals, and on October 4 — it is day of his death. This day Catholic churches of the countries hold the services devoted to the World day of animals.

The world day of animals urges us to remember environment and to protect all dumb animals. After all all animals, whether it be house or wild, have the rights for life. As it is not regrettable, but people forget about animals in daily routine and fast rate of life. And on statistical data of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), daily from a face of the planet Earth 3 species of animals disappear. More than 70 representatives of flora and fauna disappear hourly. For the last 25 years biological diversity of our planet was reduced on 1/3. The world reserves of fish do not manage to be restored naturally because annually the mankind uses it for 70%.

Annually 66 countries of the world hold various events in the World day of animals. And every year the number of the participating countries grows. And in Russia this date is celebrated, since 2000.

In the World day of animals it is worth remembering and numerous shelters which need any help. Money which are allocated by the state for their contents, often it is not enough therefore any charitable help to a local shelter will help many animals. If you decided to get a pet, descend in a local shelter where you will be able to choose to yourself the pet from a large number of unfortunate cats and dogs.
