This material invented in 1877 by Frederik Walton and until now is very widely applied in finishing of various rooms. The name "lincrusta" comes from the name of an English brand Lincrusta-Walton which is in turn formed from the Latin word "linum" meaning lyon and "crusta" that the relief means. Lincrusta represents rolled material on a fabric or paper basis on which a thin film of plastic from natural materials or alkyd resins is applied. Lincrusta is applied in the same way, as well as any other types of wall-paper. In particular, it is good to use it for finishing of kitchens as he easily washes and maintains processing weak disinfecting solutions. Lincrusta can be painted with oil paint. The technology of gluing of lincrusta on walls has some features. So, preparation of walls under finishing by lincrusta includes the following stages. Old plaster from walls should be removed, then it is necessary to apply new plaster, to jam it and to smooth down. The dried-out surface of a wall needs to be processed pumice or the usual brick which is wrapped up in an emery paper. Then by means of a dry rag the surface of a wall should be cleared of dust and to ground mix from natural drying oil (2 kg), minium iron grated (1 kg) and a sikkativa for hardening of structure (50 g). After priming of a wall it is necessary to dry within 2-3 days, then, having executed a shpaklevaniye and repeated priming, to dry some more days. Only after it it is possible to start lincrusta gluing. It is necessary to cut lincrusta for gluing with a stock in 10 cm – for shrinkage. The prepared cloths should be rolled in rolls and to wet in hot water (near 60°С) for 3-5 minutes. Then rolls it is necessary to put vertically, to allow to flow down to water then to roll lincrusta on a floor face up. To leave lincrusta for 10-12 hours for a softening and shrinkage. If not to make it, subsequently when gluing lincrusta between joints of cloths cracks are formed, up to 10 mm. After shrinkage it is necessary, having pressed a long lath to lincrusta cloths, to cut off edges from both parties. It is necessary in order that the joint between cloths was almost imperceptible. Glue for gluing of lincrusta is used perkhlorvinilovy or bustilat. It is possible to glue lincrusta also on flour or starched paste, having added 200 g of joiner's glue. Having smeared a lincrusta cloth with glue, it is possible to start directly gluing. The first cloth needs to be pasted precisely on a vertical plumb, all subsequent cloths are leveled on the previous. It is important to press densely edges of cloths to each other to avoid emergence of cracks. When gluing lincrusta should be smoothed at once, differently wrinkles can be formed. It is necessary to dry the wall trimmed with lincrusta within 7-10 days, then it can be covered with oil or enamel paint. The cracks which appeared on joints can be disguised semi-oil hard putty, and after drying to jam a grinding skin and to paint over 1-2 times paint of the chosen color. |
